Zen Imports brings world’s largest torch to Vivid Sydney
the guinness world record holder for the world’s largest battery operated flashlight from german brand led lenser is shining a spotlight on visitors at vivid sydney.
the festival is a celebration of creativity through the themes of music, ideas and light. as a longtime distributor of led lenser products, zen imports searched for the perfect reason to bring the large replica of the brand’s flagship model to australia.
“sydney’s vivid festival, which is in its fourth year now, seemed the obvious choice and after some negotiations between us, vivid organisers and the german creators, the torch was boxed up and flown here to australia,” says matthew grosvenor, zen imports marketing manager.
the torch is four meters long and weighs 216kg. during the festival visitors can walk the red carpet and pose underneath the mega light.
“opening night… saw hundreds of people walk the carpet and have their photo taken. we also ran a social media campaign on the australian led lenser facebook page where fans could receive a free flashlight on friday and saturday nights between 8-9pm, which so far has been very successful.
“with the vivid festival running till 11 june and the torch being located in such a prominent position between customs house and the opera house, tens of thousands of people are seeing it every day and night which is priceless in terms of brand exposure,” explains grosvenor.
the torch installation isn’t the only involvement zen imports – which also distributes kitchenware and recreational products – has with vivid sydney.
“as part of the festival we have been given the opportunity to be part of the vivid ideas exchange, with sven objartel, managing director of zweibrüder optoelectronics, coming especially from germany to speak about the development of this giant torch and the continued innovation of the led lenser brand.
“the greater experience, which is a first for us, of being involved in such a large scale, spectacular event has been an exciting journey and there is still more to look forward to,” he adds.
