Wow wireless speaker wins design award
The Kakkoii WOW wireless bluetooth speaker, which wirelessly streams music from any bluetooth-enabled device including your iPhone, Android, Blackberry, iPad or laptop, has won a 2013 iF product design award in Hannover, Germany.
The speaker was entered in the audio and video category and out of 3,011 entries was chosen for its innovation, design quality and functionality.
Distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Until, owner Julia Corbett knew they were onto something special.
“When approached by Kakkoii, we were overwhelmed with the aesthetic, function, marketing, price point and fresh take on something that is often so very uninspiring,” she explains.
“It epitomises truly simple, elegant design. The material is beautiful to hold, it is the perfect blend of function and looks. Everyone that has ever seen it has said wow.”
However, she says recognition for excellence doesn’t necessarily translate into success.
“The product has to have the people’s vote and they need to tell their friends, which is already happening in the short one month launch of their product, which is really exciting for the future of this young brand.
“The product has only just arrived weeks ago, and already many shops are reporting it as their biggest seller in the lead up the Christmas.”
“This win adds to Kakkoii’s award for best new product at Top Drawer, London 2012 – not bad for the debut product from a company only a few months young,” she adds.
