Villeroy & Boch donates cash to Thai flood victims
ceramic china and glassware manufacturer villeroy & boch has handed over 30,000 euros to thailand-based staff affected by flooding from two typhoons and heavy rain.
german colleagues launched into action after hearing shocking stories from the 250 employees at the bangkok factory. other staff across europe also participated in the donation drive.
coin banks were left around the administrative building and a dedicated account was set up. the company also auctioned one of the exclusive limited edition bolshoi plates.
chairman of the executive board frank göring handed over the cheque to danupong nongpa, the local human resources director.
“we’re very pleased about the concern shown by our european colleagues and would like to express our sincere thanks for the donations,” he says. “the employees affected by the flooding will need every cent to help them return to everyday life.”
the local management in thailand supported employees for a number of weeks with direct aid in the form of food and accommodation.
villeroy & boch was established centuries ago in the village of audun-le-tiche in the duchy of lorraine when francois boch began manufacturing ceramic tableware.
today, it has grown to become one of the finest producers of ceramic homewares, tableware and bathroom products and is internationally well renowned.
