UNO celebrates 40th anniversary with personalised cards
mattel’s popular family game, uno, which lets you skip players and reverse direction, will mark its 40th anniversary by allowing customers to add their own images to the deck.
using my uno fans can electronically design cards for the game which was first released in 1971. each of the 108 cards of the world’s top selling game can be altered by uploading images from consumers’ personal library.
“we wanted to celebrate the 40th birthday of australia’s favourite card game with a unique and exciting offering,” says mattel games brand manager paul perifanos.
“we thought what better [way] than to let all of uno’s fans create their own version of the game? we all know uno is timeless, but this development is a fantastic way for us to introduce the game to a whole new generation of players.”
uno has been reinvented with more than 100 line extensions. designs include different themes and formats such as barbie uno, disney uno and uno attack.
the iconic game has also been adapted for the digital world with uno for xbox, nintendo and playstation as well as an ipod and iphone app downloaded by millions of people in the past three years.
