ts makers launches servingware made from reclaimed Aussie timbers
Homewares brand ts makers recently introduced its latest collection for autumn winter 2021, made primarily using timbers salvaged from old terrace houses in Sydney’s Inner West.
It features Australian hardwood such as Spotted Gum, Yellow Gum, Victorian Ash, Mahogany and Karri.
The collection of hardwood serving boards features the abstract design inspired by organic shapes found in nature, and the best-selling Squiggle and Arch designs, with trivet sets that complement each. Every piece is handcrafted and hand-finished in ts makers’ Sydney workshop.
“When we start working on a new range we take special care with pairing each timber to accentuate its natural beauty,” co-founder Sarah Ford says.
The seasonal ranges are always small batch for a special, more personal feel.
“The likelihood of us finding the exact same timbers again are slim-to-none,” adds co-founder, Tim Ford.
“Even if that happens, the colour or quality will always be different, so each range is limited-edition. Once each specific piece is gone, it’s gone.”
The husband and wife team launched ts makers in 2019. Coming from carpentry and design backgrounds they wanted to reuse and repurpose materials so often wasted, and turn them into minimal but statement pieces designed and built to last.
To complement the new collection of handcrafted servingware, ts makers carries a range of Sabre cheese knives made in France and available in fern green, aquamarine, tortoiseshell and ivory.
