Toy company Mizzie The Kangaroo launches its first Aussie made product
Brisbane-based toy company, Mizzie The Kangaroo, has launched its very first Australian made product.
Mizzie Memory Match is a multi-level memory card game produced, for the first time, in sunny Queensland, and assembled in partnership with Multicap’s production group, Makeables, an organisation providing employment opportunities to people living with a disability.
Founder and managing director of Mizzie The Kangaroo, Sandra Ebbott, says the idea came to her during the midst of the pandemic, when Aussie mums and dads were looking for ways to keep their little ones learning at home.
“Due to the level of interaction, memory and growth skills that we designed the game to have, I knew this would be a perfect solution for these parents, whether they were in the middle of a lockdown or not,” she explains.
“As I was designing the game and organising it to be produced, I couldn’t think of a better opportunity to support even more Aussies throughout this time of uncertainty and give local manufacturing a go―and we’re so glad we did.”
Ebbott says the company prides itself on its quintessentially Australian attitudes and products and has previously worked with a local Brisbane School to bring its Sing With Mizzie sound book to life, donating a portion of the proceeds back into the school’s musical department.
“When Mizzie Memory Match came about we knew that this would be a wonderful way to not only support our local community, but those within our community that have the skills and deserve more opportunities.
“The team at Multicap’s Makeables take that into their stride and parents are really responding to the opportunity to help their little ones develop through fun, with a product that gives back to their community.”
The multi-level 4 in 1 game for kids aged three and older aims to improve core skills of memory and recognition by stimulating visual and short-term memory and reason and critical thinking skills. The games are designed to flourish little minds with colour, shape, number and letter memory and the ability to group, sort and class, which are all essential to a child’s growth.
“When designing Mizzie products, I always create with purposeful play in mind―this is one of the most unique qualities about Mizzie Memory Match. Little ones can play four different learning games with one card deck that opens them up to so many different developmental benefits,” adds Ebbott.
“Mizzie Memory Match is multileveled and helps toddlers progress with memory and recognition skills without compromising playtime. Additionally, the Mizzie Memory Match 4-in-1 card game sets are really responsibly made and they support our Brisbane community. A major part of everything we do here at Mizzie is making sure that we are lowering our carbon footprint as much as possible and creating products that are natural and environmentally responsible.
“Mizzie Memory Match is made on recyclable, FCS-Certified paper, which means parents can be confident that they are supporting sustainably sourced paper materials. Mizzie Memory Match is of course also assembled by the wonderful team at Multicap’s the Makeables.”
Ebbott adds there is a new product coming very soon in partnership with the team at Mater Hospital, with Australian created products.
“This partnership has been a long time coming and we can’t wait to help new parents make milestones even more memorable with Mizzie and Mater.”
