Top seasonal homewares picks for autumn
The cooler months are setting in and with cooler weather comes increased time at home and saying farewell to the sunshine (bye beach and pub afternoons).
It is well-known that the Autumn months are the best time for renovating and refitting out the home, as the weather forces more people inside and reconsidering their interior choices, but isn’t too hot to do the nitty gritty work like assemble and move furniture around.
Luxo Living’s founder, Winston Tu, shares the latest homewares trends across Australia to inspire your store ranges this autumn.Â
Go for the cream of the crop
As any brides out there would know, buying something in pure white can be a dangerous move. Not only does it reflect poorly under lights, but it really showcases any blemish or issue and isn’t very forgiving.
We are seeing that instead of white pieces, a lot of shoppers are opting for neutrals such as cream, beige and sand colour schemes instead of a stark white. The reason why creams and neutral tones work so well in the home is because they add depth and really act as a base for any other colour you want to add.
Cream and neutral tones are excellent for staple pieces like chairs, rugs or bedheads, as it then allows your customers to invest in smaller value decorative pieces in various colours and be able to change these throughout the year as their taste adapts.
Bring back the bold and beautiful
Layering on top of those gorgeous cream and beige pieces, Tu is confident that bold, cooler colours will be making a huge comeback this autumn. While typically these are colours reserved for winter months, we are seeing a huge uptick in shoppers picking dark forest green tones or tranquil blues for their pieces. These tones allow those neutral colours to pop and make the space look warmer and more fun.
Cut your corners
You heard it here first. Round and curvy furniture is definitely here to stay and we hate to tell you, but it’s only going to get bigger and better in 2023. Almost all furniture designs at the moment currently incorporate round, curved or arched shapes as this makes rooms look more inviting, allows for easier movement and on a mental health note, creates a more soothing environment as our brains associate hard corners with discomfort and rigidity.
Invigorate your senses
Heading into cooler months, it’s so important to add various levels of texture into the home so that your customers’ senses (particularly touch and sight) can be heightened for optimal relaxation. For cooler months, we always recommend soft fabric touches such as boucle or velvet and avoid over-cramping a space with too many harsh textures like rattan or tile.
Embrace your inner green-queen
Sustainability is at the forefront of minds more than ever before. We are seeing shoppers really start to become more earth-conscious and opting for sustainable furniture options or upcycled pieces. We see this trend continuing to build momentum, which is why we encourage customers to purchase statement pieces that will add value to their home in the long run.
