Sweet Disorder debuts in Melbourne
New Zealand brand Sweet Disorder crossed the Tasman to exhibit at AGHA Melbourne Gift Fair for the first time.
It was a well-executed debut for the fun confectionery gifts business as it scooped the best new small stand award.
“This is our first time here at the show in Melbourne,” enthuses founder, Molly Hansen.
“Our aim is to bring a smile to everyone’s life as it can be a bit too stressful and serious and these products are all about creating a giggle and when I won the award I was definitely smiling.”
Sweet Disorder was established in 2018 by Hansen who, at the time, worked in a corporate role and found life was just too stressful.
“I wanted something simple that is going to make people smile and laugh and that can be given every day. I love lollies and that’s where Sweet Disorder remedies were born.
“All of the products have dosage instructions and they are great gifts and I get to dress up as a silly doctor. Let’s try and share the happiness and bring some giggles to Australia.
“The great thing about our products is they make such a great gift that the buyers that visited our stand were quite varied. We spoke to lots of pharmacies, newsagents, gift and homewares stores and we were just talking to a large department store. We have even had garden centres and saddleries as our products also make great Father’s Day and Christmas gifts.”
While a couple of people wanted the entire range, generally Hansen tailors the products to her customers—some of them like the cheekier and naughtier products and others prefer the more family-friendly ones.
“The beauty is that we have a wide range so that buyers can tweak it to what they like and need. Among the best-sellers are Bullshit Blockers and Fart Suppressants as well as You Rock if you want to tell someone they are really cool.”
