Satara Australia secures New Zealand distribution
Local furniture and homewares wholesaler Satara Australia has expanded internationally after Sage Lifestyle was appointed New Zealand distributor.
Sage Lifestyle discovered Satara at Reed Gift Fair Sydney earlier this year. It had been searching for a furniture brand with clean lines, well-constructed and a Scandinavian design influence.
“They have distributed some other people’s ranges so they have an existing customer base in the retail space,” says Andrew Johnston, Satara Australia owner. “Furniture is new for them but they were very keen to work with us on that and since we’ve established the relationship we’ve had a number of good orders in the last few months, so we’ve started off very well.”
Johnston believes Satara’s outdoor furniture, in particular, will work well in New Zealand because it will complement the stunning houses built there as well as the outdoor lifestyle.
“Even though their climate’s a bit cooler they like their outdoors and the like, ranging from picnic baskets which can be used outside through to a lot of our indoor/outdoor furniture… and they probably share a similar design sense to Australians and a similar decorating style,” he explains.
Sage Lifestyle director, Sara Jennings, says Satara’s New Zealand debut was successful.
“The response has been fantastic,” she adds. “Retailers and designers alike are excited to have something new and fresh. The response has been unanimous on the quality of the finish and design.
“We have just launched the brand with the key architecture firms across the country and we are hoping for an equally enthusiastic response. New Zealand has a large amount of new buildings underway across residential, commercial and hospitality and we believe Satara will look great in many of these developments.”
