Rose Hill Designs greeting cards make Australian debut
Gallery Collection has signed on as the local distributor for Rose Hill Designs after discovering the pop art style brand at the UK Spring Fair earlier this year.
“We really like the uniqueness and the wonderful bold colours used in her designs,” says Sharron Lipszyc, Gallery Collection director. “The way Rose has used graphics to accentuate her designs is very different and we feel is a wonderful addition to our existing ranges.”
The Port Melbourne wholesaler will start with Rose Hill Designs’ greeting cards before possibly adding her notebooks to its range.
Rose Hill is looking forward to having her products in Australian stores for the first time and after living in Melbourne for two years says it feels “like coming home”.
“I think Australians will really love the designs as they are bright and fun,” she adds. “I draw my inspiration from everything. I love pop art and the 60s. Artists like Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol are a massive influence – people actually describe my work as futuristic retro. I like to think I have updated their techniques using digital skills and hand drawn illustrations with my 64 geometric patterns in each drawing.
“I come from a textiles background so colour and texture is a very important part of the process. I love London and everything in it, including the people and animals. You can see that inspiration in my designs.”
Rose Hill Designs will be launched at Reed Gift Fairs Melbourne in August.
