Punky B steps up international expansion
Jewellery wholesaler, Punky B, has stepped up its New Zealand operations with the launch of a new website that allows Kiwi retailers to purchase in their own currency.
“We have been supplying people in New Zealand for a couple of years but they had to order through our Australian website and we had feedback from customers that they’d prefer it to be in New Zealand dollars,” says Simone Palmer, director Punky B. “We also had feedback that it was difficult for them with customs and having to pay duty on their goods so… we take care of all the duty and import requirements for them.”
The new website also follows the appointment of a New Zealand based sales representative who has worked with the company in Australia. While she will be the point of contact for New Zealand retailers stock will still be shipped from Australia.
If the set up in New Zealand proves successful it could see Punky B expand further overseas.
“The website we’ve designed is a dot.com website so it’s able to be available to other countries in different currencies as well, but because we have the contact in New Zealand with Terianne we decided to launch it properly there first. People from other countries can order online and have been doing that but we thought we’d do the trade fair in New Zealand and trial that there first and if that all works well we can look at setting up similar arrangements in other countries.”
