NY NOW Winter 2021 Market cancelled
In another blow for the gift and homewares industry, the organisers of NY NOW have decided to cancel next year’s trade fair.
Originally scheduled for 7 to 10 February, the continuing impact of Covid-19 including government restrictions on large gatherings, travel limitations and the current closure of the Javits Convention Centre, where the show is held, have made it impossible to stage the NY NOW Winter Market.
Tim Hart, senior vice president NY NOW, says it’s extremely disappointing having to cancel the show, but it has become clear that it will not be possible to bring the community together in New York in February.
“Our attention now turns to build on the success of our recently launched NY NOW Digital Market,” he says.
“The Digital Market is a year-round discovery, connection and lead generation platform for our community, and we were delighted to welcome more than 650 brands for its launch.”
The Digital Market will remain online as an ongoing resource for buyers through the end of 2020 and beyond, meeting buyers’ sourcing and replenishment needs, any time, from anywhere.
“It’s a privilege to be on this digital journey with our community and we are thrilled by the possibilities it creates for us all, particularly when digital and in-person converge at the Javits Centre in August 2021.”
Winter Market Week will run online between Thursday 28 January and Wednesday 3 February and features a full program of content + experiences, show specials, new product introductions and more.
