New greeting card range from me and amber
Australian wholesaler me and amber launched its latest hand screen printed greeting card collection at Life Instyle Sydney last month, aptly called me and amber plus.
The new collection features elegant black paper and beautiful charcoal envelopes, ensuring these monochrome cards stand out from the crowd. They retail for $8 each, which is a little dearer than the standard range, but they are definitely worth it, says co-founder Amber Molnar.
“The feedback on our new range at the fair was really great… many new stockists are now carrying the collection as well as most of our existing stockists,” she says. “We received great compliments, and people commented that they hadn’t seen anything like it before… the fair overall was a big success.”
Molnar and co-owner Karen have been hand screen printing their signature silhouette style greeting cards for over 10 years. A hands-on approach to design and making is an intrinsic part of their practice and the duo has experimented with different methods of screen printing.
While the technique is still fairly elementary, it is not quite as basic as the traditional stencil cut method they use in their standard range.
“Technology is everywhere, and we try to steer clear of it wherever possible,” explains Molnar. “Karen and I love working with our hands… we must have screen printed tens of thousands of cards over the years, but are somehow still fascinated by the immediacy and rawness of the process.”
The new range is available now.
