New Cohana craft range available from Hands On Workshop
For all those craft lovers that like to create things by hand, the latest collection of artisan sewing tools is now available from Hands On Workshop (HOW).
The new Cohana range of handmade sewing and crafting tools from Kawaguchi, a Japanese manufacturer of sewing tools for over 60 years, was launched in late 2017. This third product release was developed around needlework―embroidery box, drawstring pouch, thread spools, needle collection and small scissors.
“Each handmade piece embodies the essence of Japanese craftsmanship―quality materials, which function perfectly, look gorgeous and showcase the maker’s skill,” says Nicole McCarthy, founder of HOW.
The range includes the Magewappa Embroidery Hoop toolbox―a toolbox for embroiderers resembling an embroidery hoop with hand stitching on the lid; Himeji Drawstring Leather Pouch―a coloured leather drawstring pouch made in Himeji ‘white’ leather; Magnetic Buttons of Shigaraki Ware―button-shaped ceramic pieces with a magnetic strength for collecting pins; Mini Scissors from Seki―small embroidery thread scissors with a spring catch; and Wooden Thread Winders―four point wooden ‘stars’ wound with coloured embroidery thread.
All pieces are available in the five signature colour themes: yellow, pink, blue/green turquoise, blue and sky grey.
“Crafters and sewists from the UK and Europe are ordering the products as much as our local Australian customers because the appeal to crafters of quality Japanese products is universal. Makers love handmade,” adds McCarthy.
For the Cohana brand, Kawaguchi sought the talents of regional Japanese craftsman to produce pieces using traditional production methods to make collectable keepsakes.
“These new additions are sure to delight as they make excellent gifts and keepsakes which cannot be found elsewhere.”
