New brand Elephant in the Trunk still going strong
Launched by two best friends to fill a gap in the market for toddler to tween décor products, Elephant in the Trunk has built up a strong following since debuting to trade earlier this year.
The brand’s initial collection offers bunting, ottomans, storage cases and dinner sets for boys and girls that are both functional and stylish.
“We design all the prints and products in our range – that’s the fun part,” says Corinne Grove, co-owner. “Krystle lives in Hong Kong, which is a big advantage. She has been the driving force in sourcing the quality you see in our products and because she lives so close to our manufacturers she has been able to build and maintain strong relationships with them, which is pivotal to the growth of the brand.”
Elephant in the Trunk had a positive response at Kids Instyle Sydney. Recently interest in the brand has been growing through word of mouth and social media.
Its storage cases and dinner sets have proved to be most popular. “We believe the dinner sets have attracted customers through the quality and the cute prints that feature on them, especially the flamingo print that is on the girls set,” she adds.
“The storage cases on the other hand are definitely our focus product and are made out of beautiful colourful fabric. They have multiple uses from storing trinkets for girl’s dolls clothes to cars for boys plus they can also be used to wrap a gift for someone, but most importantly they look stunning on display in a child’s room. Feedback from our suppliers has been positive and they love that the cases merchandise beautifully in their boutique windows and shelves.”
The brand is now working on expanding its range and hopes to grow at a consistent rate to focus on establishing strong relationships and learn along the way.
