Meet our 2022/23 gia Australia winner: Minimax
Kitchen and lifestyle retailer, Minimax, has been chosen as the 2022/23 gia Australia winner and will be representing Australian retail at the awards in Chicago next year.
Minimax was established by the Harrison family in 1967, originally as a small local hardware store and over the years the business evolved and changed ownership to another Melbourne-based family, the Blythes.
Under the new ownership stores were acquired or rebranded around Australia from the previously well-known Your Habitat and General Trader stores to create one destination across the country for premium homewares retailing, called Minimax.
“We are thrilled that Minimax has been chosen to represent Australia at the gia Awards in March 2023,” enthuses CEO, Andrea McCormick.
The retailer has gone on quite the journey since its launch and currently has 17 stores Australia-wide. Store design and aesthetics have always been a major part of the instore experience.
“Minimax is a kitchen and lifestyle retailer with multiple stores across Australia. Unique to Minimax is our comprehensive range of kitchen and lifestyle products. Like no other store in Australia, we cover a wide assortment of product that embodies our tag line―‘Entertaining Ideas for your Life’.
“Inspiration is sought from a broad range of retailers from around the world. Consideration is given to the lifestyle of customers, creating a warm, inviting and inspiring shopping experience.
“This Christmas we have partnered with gift flick. This allows customers to send an instant message as a gift with a personalised video story and an image of the gift you have purchased. This way you can purchase a gift online at the last minute and the recipient still gets to digitally unwrap the gift.”
Christmas is a season to give and this year Minimax is partnering with Foodbank to help give to those who might need it a little more.
“All customers are invited to make a $2 donation when you make a purchase from Minimax throughout the November and December shopping period. Through the generosity of our customers Minimax and Foodbank hope to provide 200,000 meals to those in need this Christmas,” says McCormick.
