Kitchen goods win at design awards
fisher & paykel, ilve and wiltshire are among dozens of winners at the australian international design awards held in melbourne last week.
the 90cm izona cookspace oven from fisher & paykel was honoured with design award while the 90cm dishdrawer wide was given a good design nod.
peter russell, general manager marketing at fisher & paykel, says the company is thrilled by the endorsement.
“we are absolutely delighted that not just one, but two of our kitchen appliances have been recognised – the only oven or dishwasher to receive these prestigious awards,” he says.
“these products are part of a modular 90cm underbench product range; a design philosophy led by ergonomic insights and a range that allows unprecedented flexibility in terms of kitchen design and layout.”
the mk4 wiltshire staysharp knife was another kitchen product to be given a design award for design excellence.
“wiltshire staysharp is such a heritage brand for australia, with an iconic position in the marketplace,” says julian pidcock, marketing director at mcpherson’s consumer products, the company behind the brand.
“we are thrilled that it has won a design award. it is also great recognition for the people who put so much effort into creating the new product, using the latest technology to bring australia’s best-loved knife into the 21st century.”
ilve’s epsilon island rangehood was also a design award winner, recognised for design excellence. the appliance acts as a de-humidifier to combat misty windows and condensation due to cooking but does not need to be connected to ducting.
the design award trademark is a symbol used to give consumers confidence when buying. brandon gien, managing director of good design australia, the organisation behind the awards, says winners are of a high standard.
“award winners are the result of unwavering dedication to good design and commitment to a professional design process. innovation, creativity and attention to detail are clearly at the heart of each project,” he says.
