Kip & Co partners with Jessica Rowe for R U OK? Day
To help spread the important message behind R U OK? Day, held on 10 September this year, boutique bedding label Kip & Co has collaborated with journalist, author and mental health advocate Jessica Rowe to create a limited edition cushion.
All profits from the sale of the cushion will go towards supporting R U OK?, a charity that aims to get Australians talking about their mental health.
Big believers in colour therapy and its power to influence human emotions, Kip & Co has injected its bright design aesthetic into the collaboration, along with Rowe’s penchant for pink and leopard print. The result? A 100 per cent cotton cushion that is designed to live in the heart of the home and remind people to asked loved ones, ‘are you ok?’.
Rowe, who has been outspoken about the need for honest communication throughout her media career, says she hopes the cushion will start a conversation.
“We want to encourage people to look out for friends and family and to ask, ‘are you ok?’,” she says. “If this cushion can serve as a reminder to ask that question then we’ve achieved something special.”
Kip & Co co-founder, Alex van der Sluys, agrees. “What we love about R U OK? is the simplicity of the message. It doesn’t take money or a lot of effort. It’s a simple act of kindness that can provide immeasurable benefit to another person.”
The Kip & Co + Jessica Rowe for R U OK? Day cushion is available now for $79 from www.kipandco.net.au
