Kimochis releases picture books
the brand behind the soft toy range kimochis, which helps kids express and explore their emotions, has now released its first two picture books.
cloud’s best worst day ever and bug makes a splash from are illustrated by artist hanako wakiyama and feature a forward from communication expert ellen pritchard dodge, who gives parents and teachers tips to help children get through challenging moments.
the books have also been a hit with other child experts.
“cloud’s best worst day ever is a charming book and a perfect vehicle for helping young children (and adults) understand the message that ‘it’s okay to be mad but it’s not okay to be mean’,” says donna mitroff, educator and children’s media professional.
“i love this book; i love the illustrations and i recommend it for both kids and their parents.”
john gottman, author of raising an emotionally intelligent child agrees.
“i believe that kimochis are great because they get children to talk about their more ‘negative’ feelings with other kids and with teachers and parents,” he says. “here is a vehicle for coaching children about feelings, which is the royal road to these magic moments for connecting with our children.”
kimochis was voted most innovative toy 2011 and best educational toy 2010 and often outsell other plush toys.
