inSync Designs to showcase range at Salone del Mobile in Milan
australian jewellery designer iris saar isaacs will stage a major launch into the international market next month after being chosen to showcase her range at the ‘oscars of design’ in milan.
insync designs will be the only australian jewellery studio at the salone del mobile, which is in its 50th year and features the latest in domestic furnishing and accessories from around the world.
last year’s event attracted close to 300,000 visitors and 2,500 exhibitors showcasing their latest products.
the company was asked to showcase its designs after saar isaacs showed her latest collections to contacts she’d kept in touch with after exhibiting overseas two years ago.
saar isaacs says she’s unsure what to expect from the event but hopes the exposure will give her product greater presence internationally, with the range only in a small number of galleries in europe and asia.
“god only knows what will happen, i’m hoping it will launch the designs internationally,” she says. “i find every time we exhibit overseas we get a boost and really good exposure.
“i’m excited but nervous about entering the world arena and not just tight, little australia.”
the range includes brooches, earrings and necklaces with line drawing designs as well as a collection of pebble necklaces carved out of solid aluminum block.
appealing mainly to concept buyers, architects and interior designers, saar isaacs says her products have had a good response from the public in germany and japan because of their clean and uncluttered design.
she believes this is the key to her success and says other australian designers should “concentrate on really clever and innovative products” rather than imitate what’s already out there.
the salone del mobile will be held in milan from april 12 to 17.
