Innovative wine chiller launches in Australia
perth-based importer, beyond cool, has brought an icicle shaped wine chiller to the australian market.
named the corkcicle, the device was developed in the us and has already caught attention for its simple yet clever features which mean customers can kick the ice bucket and keep a bottle of wine nearby and at the right temperature.
marketing manager teena townsend says beyondcool found the product online and approached the team behind the corkcicle about distributing the product locally.
“given our kitchenwares and homewares/giftware portfolio, it was a great fit for us and our contacts and existing customers within this space – particularly with our other quality wine accessories brand metrokane (aerators, decanters, corkscrews, barware) which we are launching in australia too,” she explains.
given local consumers appreciation for a fine vintage, the product is expected to do well down under.
“australians love their wine – you need to keep white wine chilled and given our hot summers it also works well with reds to bring them down to a better drinking temperature.
“red wine too warm isn’t enjoyable – particularly in this climate. it’s a great ‘at home’ product, which is very much inline with australian barbecue and entertaining culture – much more so than the european pub and bar culture. we entertain and drink wine at home all of the time,” adds townsend.
the corkcicle will be launched at reed gift fairs melbourne august event but has already been on the radar of many retailers.
“since launching mid march, we’ve got around 70 stockists nationwide to date, with several new ones coming on board each day.
“we are currently in negotiations with some of the larger retails chains and hope these will also be secured and rolled out over the next few weeks – unfortunately they take a little longer that the smaller ones,” she adds.
