Innovative alphabet flash cards make Hong Kong debut
a kids product with a unique take on the traditional a-z flash cards and wooden blocks has gone on show at the hong kong gifts and premium fair for the first time.
created by designer and founder of hungry little minds, vicki tucker, the cards engage children with architecture and design words and images while allowing them to build lateral structures with building blocks instead of vertical stacking.
“playing with my kids, i have always been frustrated that wooden blocks seem to tumble down with the slightest wrong move and that the standard issue flash cards, such as ‘a is for apple’, are a little dispiriting,” says tucker. “they simply don’t hold kids’ attention – let alone that of modern parents.
“with this in mind, i took these two basic toys that have been in children's lives for decades and combined them in a way to excite children to build high towers as well as long bridges. i believe toys should be inspirational as well as educational.”
the product made its debut at designersblock milan and decided to show at hong kong last weekend after receiving a positive response.
a-z flash cards and wooden blocks had a successful appearance at the event and attracted interest from international retailers.
the product is distributed by destes design.
