IHGF Delhi Fair Autumn 2020 starts tomorrow
The 50th edition of the show will again be held on a virtual platform following the success of the spring fair earlier this year.
With travel restrictions still in place in most parts of the world, many buyers would not be able to visit the physical fair. To still enable them to source products from Indian manufacturers, the fair is going digital.
“Though it’s a digital platform, it is expected that large numbers of overseas buyers from across the globe which includes wholesalers, distributors, chain stores, departmental stores, retailers, mail order companies, brand owners, buying houses and designers and trend forecasters will be visiting the show for their sourcing needs,” says Shri Rakesh Kumar, director general EPCH, which organises the fair.
From 4 to 9 November, 25 virtual halls will feature more than 1,400 exhibitors showcasing their products in categories such as gifts and decoratives, furniture and accessories, home furnishings, housewares, lamps and lighting, garden and outdoor, eco-friendly products and fashion jewellery, accessories and bags.
Kumar adds that many artisans and entrepreneurs don’t have the means to market their products to an international audience. Therefore 100 participants from major craft categories are given an opportunity to participate in the virtual fair and provided a stall with all facilities for showcasing their products.
“We have made efforts to match the features of the physical fair in which themes used to be set up on our virtual platform to showcase the regional crafts of India.
“In addition, we are providing international marketing opportunities to a number of toy producers including Etikoppaka Wooden Toys, Raja Rani Dolls, Terracotta Toys and Kinnal Wooden Toys. These Indian toy manufacturers will be able to connect with overseas buyers through their participation in IHGF Delhi Fair Autumn Virtual 2020.”
Once again webinars will cover a variety of topics such as Trend forecasts spring/summer 2021: furniture & lighting; Bamboo handicrafts – marketing, design & skilling for sustainable development & livelihood; and Sustainable fashion – why is it the future?
“Models adorning products sourced from the exhibitors of the show will also be showcasing through fashion shows during six days of the fair,” adds Kumar.
