Home is where the heart is for C&A Homewares
C&A Homewares always aims to select the most beautiful products to create wonderful concepts for the home. So where did it all start and what was the journey like? We talk to co-founder Jane Guo to find out.
Tell us a bit more about C&A Homewares?
My husband John and I worked for a furniture company when we arrived in Sydney, unpacking furniture. Our love of beautiful, functional pieces inspired us to launch C&A Homewares at Chipping Norton in 1995. We later moved to new premises at Wetherill Park where we have a showroom and proudly show our range and concepts to our customers.
Did you face any challenges?
It wasn’t always easy in the beginning, building a business in the Australian market and not really understanding or knowing what the Australian people needed and liked for their lifestyle. We made a few mistakes along the way while perfecting our knowledge for selecting appropriate products.
What makes C&A Homewares products different and unique?
C&A doesn’t select just any product. We try to create a concept to capture the mood and the latest trends and we always have our customer front of mind.
We purchase items that will resonate with the client while also making sure it’s at the right price point. Basically, our main focus is getting all the elements right―function, look and price.
Being local means we can promise fast delivery times.
How important is sustainability for C&A Homewares?
Q&A is always mindful of the materials and technology used to produce the product. We believe in being ‘planet friendly’ and with our three adult children this is often the focus of robust discussions around the dinner table. The planet is important to everyone and we should all be aware of what we are doing to it.
What kind of retailer stocks your products?
We have a broad cross section of stockists ranging from gift shops, furniture stores, garden stores, interior designers and pharmacy and newsagents. We have something for everyone.
What’s next for C&A Homewares?
We will continue to select products that suit our clients. Our products need to connect with the customer. We are now focusing on more marketing and getting the message about our brand and products out there in the market. If we get this right, we can replenish our stocks quicker and keep the concepts fresh, exciting, new and on trend.
