Greenbo wins red dot design award
the company behind a planter box which sits over any railing shape has been honoured with the prestigious red dot design award.
greenbo’s xl designer rail and deck window box impressed the 30-member jury, which had to judge 4,515 entries, with its built-in draining solution, anchoring mechanism, stability mechanism and modern colours.
australian director eli shreiber is overwhelmed by the win.
“it takes us to the next level of the product,” he says. “it’s not just a product, it’s a product with an award, something that gives us a difference from any other product in the market. when you’re doing a design and you get an award for it, it’s something else, it’s a different feeling.”
the product will now go on show in the red dot design museum at a four week special exhibition.
ceo and initiator of the red dot design award professor dr peter zec says this year’s entries were of a high calibre.
“the most distinguished products of the respective branch of industry faced up not only to the tough competition this year again, but also to the critical eye of the jury,” he says. “the experts thoroughly examined, tested and evaluated each individual entry applying the highest standards.
“with their performances, the laureates design is an integral part of innovative product solutions. at this high level, the winners are able to increase their potential for success on the market considerably by purposefully using our design prize.”
greenbo is now working on a new design.
“we’re working on a new concept, it’s something that will probably be released next year, but at the moment we’re trying to expose our plantar box to as many markets as we can and because it’s quite a new product in the market in australia,” adds shreiber.
