Eucalypt Homewares opens new studio
Eucalypt Homewares is set for growth after moving out of its backyard studio into a new larger space.
Ceramicist Melanie Sharpham says while her old workshop was perfect for looking after her family and developing her skills it was time to move on to keep up with demand.
“As my business has grown over the last few years the small size of my studio was starting to limit the potential for continued growth,” she adds. “I was also beginning to struggle to produce my products in a reasonable time frame. It was time to make the big decision to move my studio to a larger space away from my home.”
The new studio features two kilns, a big casting table and more room for Sharpham and her staff, which means an increase in output.
“The biggest advantage is that my new studio is about three times the size of my old studio. It is only a five-minute walk from my house – still very convenient for my family life, has a presence on a major road – a good bit of exposure for my brand via a big sign, and is located behind a trendy new café – bringing in interested people for a look at what I am doing as well as providing great coffee.
“Eucalypt Homewares has only been in our new space for a few weeks, so it is early days yet. It takes a while to settle in to a smooth routine, find the best flow for the workspace and gather all the new exciting gadgets and equipment. So far though, we are all enjoying the extra room to spread out and increase productivity.”
