ES Kids acquires sustainable wholesaler The World of Good
Baby products and giftware wholesaler, ES Kids, has expanded its portfolio with the purchase of eco-friendly distributor, The World of Good.
Based in Adelaide, South Australia, The World of Good was founded in 2006 with the aim to source and distribute environmentally friendly and zero-waste baby and children’s products to resellers in Australia and New Zealand.
ES Kids had previous dealings with the business before the takeover and loved many of the brands they distribute.
“We loved the business’ commitment to selling high quality, natural products which are kind to the environment and minimise the negative impact to the plant,” says a company spokesperson.
Indeed, the reason for the purchase was not only the products, but also its eco-focus which is becoming increasingly important to retailers and customers.
However, The World of Good will trade as a completely separate business to ES Kids.
“The World of Good is the fifth business we own and they all run independently. The World of Good is an eco-friendly business with many products made in countries outside of China, such as the US. This is very different to ES Kids where the majority of products are made in China.
“It has a very specific eco focus that we feel is very important to keep the focus on. We also love the diversity offered in distributing brands made in various locations around the world.”
ES Kids supplies a number of eco-friendly brands including Re-Play, which is all about affordable, durable and sustainable children’s tableware. These products are made in the US from recycled milk containers in a wide range of colours.
“Another major brand for us is Hevea. Hevea is a Danish company with products that are made from natural rubber, making them 100 per cent natural, eco-friendly and compostable. The range includes products such as pacifiers, bath toys, teethers and bottles. We also distribute Nature’s Child, Ethicool Books, Koala Eco, Jack ‘n’ Jill, People 4 Ocean and Miyim.
“There might be more acquisitions in the future, but now our focus is on continuing to grow our current businesses within the baby and children’s sector,” she adds.
