DIY toys top the Australian toy awards
Not the latest gadgets but DIY arts and crafts was the big winner at the recent Australian Toy Association’s (ATA) annual Product of the Year Awards.
Up against the biggest brands in the world, Moose’s Australian designed Glitzi Globes beat six other category winners to take out top spot as Toy of the Year.
The toy company also took out the coveted Development Award for originality and design as well as the Crafts and Activity award for the popular Glitzi Globes – the second year in a row Moose has won both categories. In addition, the company’s boys toy Zooma, a ‘safe’ slingshot powering out gummy ammo, scooped top honours in the Outdoor Toy of the Year category.
In line with the American Toy Industry Association’s (ATIA) 2013 toy trend predictions, DIY design inspired toys are set to make waves in the Australian toy market this year and co-CEO of Moose Enterprise Paul Solomon says that a constantly evolving creative culture is what drives the $2 billion Australian industry.
“Children are forever demanding more… and we are delighted that Glitzi Globes has been recognised for its innovation and ability to capture the imaginations of these most discerning of critics,” he says.
“We are in the business of delighting children and the young at heart and we must constantly raise the bar by designing, developing and delivering new, exciting and innovative toys to the market,” says Solomon.
Glitzi Globes will be available in September 2013.
