Digital issue – furniture & decoratives – out now!
2018 is all about comfort when it comes to furniture, as we are (finally) breaking away from the Scandinavian minimalism and moving towards creating living spaces that nurture and restore.
This is one of the trends that you can check out on page 10 in our latest furniture & decoratives digital issue.
Colours are very important when forecasting trends and this year bold and deep hues will dominate the furniture and decoratives market, including the 2018 Pantone colour ultra violet. On page 22 we look at ways to use this shade in Australian interiors and homes.
If you remember the 80s you will remember the wallpaper adorning most rooms with daggy motifs and prints, not just one wall but all four walls. Today, wallpaper is making a comeback but gone are the crazy patterns and instead we see geometrics, flowers and bold colours. See page 30 for more on the wallpaper trend.
Another great way to update a room besides wallpaper is with flowers and plants. They are a great addition to any room but can be difficult to maintain. The good news is, artificial flowers and plants have gone through some major improvements and you literally can’t tell the difference between real and fake anymore. Check out page 26 for different ways to use artificial greenery in the home.
This issue features some great profiles. On page 20 we chat to the husband and wife team behind furniture and homeware store Arrival Hall, who started this venture with hardly any money and no experience. We also talk to Greg Ollerhead from wholesaler OneWorld Collection about furniture innovation, supporting independent retail and the latest trends on page 32.
Dutch heritage and a love for decorating and travel became the motivation for Elly Clues to start Villa Maison in 2003. She and her husband now divide their time between Australia and France. Read her fascinating story on page 24. While Clues moved to France to be closer to her family, for Frank Laureti family was the motivation to launch Café Lighting. Read more about his successful business on page 28.
Don’t miss some of the best window displays from furniture retailers around the world on page 14 and on page 34 you will find decorative, contemporary and classic pieces for the home that will surely fly off your store shelves.
