The Good Design Awards, held a couple of weeks ago in a digital format, are all about recognising design and innovation, so for Kelly Walker, founder of Klipsta, to win an award was the icing on the cake.
“I am thrilled to receive the Good Design Award,” she says. “It has been an amazing month for us as we were also finalists in the AusMumpreneur Awards in two categories for product design and product innovation.”
The Klipsta hat clip, available in stone, black and tan, is a simple and convenient way to carry your hat hands-free, with a clever design that lets you securely fasten your hat to your bag.
“If you’ve ever experienced the frustration of a lost or damaged hat while out and about, we’ve got a simple solution to make life a little easier. Simply attach, lock and clip―then get on with your day with one less thing to worry about,” Walker explains.
The design surely impressed the Good Design Awards judges as they loved its simple and durable design. “A clever design solution for an existing problem for children and adults alike, this feels like a product destined to have many uses, across many industries. The potential for the concept to extend to other uses makes it very appealing.”
Dr Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia, adds that Australia’s Good Design Award is more than a symbol of design excellence.
“It represents the hard work and dedication towards an innovative outcome that will ultimately make our lives better,” he says. “These projects showcase the shear brilliance of design and the potential it has to improve our world.”
The 2020 Good Design Awards attracted a record number of submissions with an astonishing 835 design projects evaluated in this year’s international design awards.
