Christophe Living designs armchair for Queen
a sydney french furniture specialist has designed two chairs specifically for use by her majesty queen elisabeth ii and the duke of edinburgh during their recent visit to brisbane.
the louis xv armchairs, from christophe living’s limited edition versailles range, were carved in italy from solid european beech then gilded and upholstered in the business’ sydney studio.
commissioned by a leading queensland businessman especially for the occasion, both chairs featured a deep blue velvet with a rich sheen and royal monograms embroidered with superfine gold thread.
head designer and founder jean-christophe burckhardt trained in italy and france and specialises in traditional louis and french provincial interiors. he has been based in sydney for the past 20 years.
“i am honoured by the opportunity to have made such fine chairs for this special occasion. these chairs display the finest craftsmanship and an occasion like this deserves the very best,” he says.
christophe living also supplied furniture for news presenter sandra sully’s french themed wedding at the opera house and the art gallery of new south wales for the cezanne and the renoir to picasso exhibitions.
