Cathy Freeman opens Mothercare flagship store at Taren Point
mothercare has opened its new south wales flagship store at taren point with the help of olympic gold medalist cathy freeman.
the expectant mum was on hand to celebrate the day whilst stocking up on everything she needs ahead of the birth of her first child in august.
jonathon gavshon, general manager retail trade at mothercare says it was a privilege to have freeman help launch the store.
“the opening weekend was a huge success,” he says.
“mothercare australia was truly honoured to have cathy freeman officially open the store. she spoke so candidly about preparing for motherhood and how nurturing our staff were. we were proud she chose to shop with us for her arrival,” he says.
freeman told the daily telegraph she’s nervous about becoming a mum but taking things as they come.
"it's a bit frightening and i'm a little anxious,” she says.
"i realise there are going to be things that i'm not prepared for and things that take me by surprise. i don't have a plan, i'm just going to take things one day at a time."
as well as the best brand and its own unique products, mothercare will also offer in-store midwives for advice, feeding rooms, fully stocked change tables, advice evenings for pregnant mums, free car seat fittings and antenatal classes.
“as the australian arm of mothercare, we are excited to be expanding throughout nsw, rolling out our ability to care for mothers through every stage of motherhood from planning, pregnancy and well beyond,” says mothercare ceo brent dennison.
