BLUNT Umbrellas partners with UK artist Liz Harry
After collaborating with Safe Space Alliance earlier this year, BLUNT Umbrellas has now turned to UK artist Liz Harry to bring a burst of colour to its umbrellas this winter.
The UK-based illustrator and graphic artist has put her signature joyful colour ‘pop’ spin on the BLUNT Metro for the brand’s latest collaboration.
“The BLUNT team have long adored the work of Liz Harry, it is pure joy,” says BLUNT’s Jeni Baylis.
“The signature colour pop aesthetic of her work is so bright and cheerful, and we knew it would work brilliantly to create a bit of cheer on a rainy day. So, when Liz reached out it was an easy yes from us.”
With a candy floss pink base adorned with all the colours of the rainbow, this quirky design brings the positive vibes to any season. Featuring playful icons that embody travel and tapping into individuals’ brave and carefree spirit, it screams ‘adventure whatever the weather’, says Harry.
“This design was conceptualised over lockdown during the first year of the pandemic, when moments outdoors and in my neighbourhood had become more vital than ever,” she explains.
“My inspiration for the design came from vintage travel posters and luggage labels. However, as our adventures had been very localised through the pandemic, I tried to imagine what a travel poster would look like. If it were for a trip to the park down the road or a muddy walk, what icons would be on there? Then I created it with my own illustrative spin and lots of colour.”
Australians love colour, which is reflected in nature, in character, in our wardrobes and our homes.
“This umbrella with its candy floss pink base adorned with all of the fun colours of the rainbow and pop art illustrations, absolutely radiates positive energy and vibes to complement our lifestyle,” adds Baylis.
“The design concept is also around embracing ‘adventure whatever the weather’, which rings true for Aussies. We love to travel and explore the outdoors and this beautiful canopy print features illustrations of seashells, sandcastles, buckets, spades, planes, yachts, coffee cups and seagulls, all of which you can find travelling across the country or on your back doorstep.
“Colourful prints and bold colours always work well for our Australian audience and this design ticks all the boxes. This one is sure to sell out.”
The BLUNT x Liz Harry Metro is available now and retails for $139.
