Axis Toys to distribute Teebee in Australia & New Zealand
Gift and toy wholesaler, Axis Toys, has scooped the exclusive distribution of the Teebee range for 2018 in Australia and New Zealand.
The Danish designed toypod and lunchbox is a transportable, compact toy box made from food-safe plastic for kids aged three to 12. The box is wedged shaped and fits comfortably between a child’s legs while sitting and when open the lids transform in to a lap tray perfect for playing or drawing. Teebee comes with a sorting tray and plate for Lego, Mega Bloks, Kreo, etc, but works for all kinds of creative toys.
Its practicality as a travel and play storage pod really stood out, says Axis Toys managing director, Paula Opfer.
“We love the design,” she enthuses. “As a mother, I could see so many uses for this as we like taking long road trips and obviously many of the favourite toys get left behind. And with the Lego board that was an added bonus. For the older kids and ‘adults’ it’s a great accessory for lunch, make-up, overnight, etc.”
Teebee approached Axis Toys, says Opfer, based on its reputation with the European brands it carries. She says Teebee also reflects the Axis Toys philosophy.
“We believe their products will fit in very well with our existing ranges. We focus on items that are classic and made to last in terms of quality and of enjoyment. We also believe in tactile and open-ended play and the Teebee encourages this.”
Many experts have warned that too much screen time e.g. tablets and electronic devices can disrupt a child’s hormonal balance and can ultimately lead to loss of creativity and social skills. This spurred the team behind Teebee on to create something better and different to pass the time with, especially when families are on-the-go.
“We love tablets and smartphones, but as many others, there is also a fear of the consequences of spending too much time in front of the screen,” explains Teebee co-founder, Michael Moncur.
“We therefore decided to challenge the way children play when they are on-the-move, so that kids are entertained for hours, avoiding the battery running out, having to strain their eyes and suffer from motion sickness.”
There are five colours to choose from including blue, dark grey, raw white, red and pink. “New colours are in the pipeline and we’ll then roll these out as they become available,” adds Opfer.
Teebee is available in Australia from mid-February.
