Australian distributor signs up Lolli Clock
Hong Kong designed brand Lolli Clock is now available in Australia after it launched to trade at Reed Gift Fairs Melbourne this month.
South Australian based retailer Jenny Phillips discovered the brand while sourcing products for her store at a Hong Kong trade show and signed on to wholesale the range locally.
She says the vibrancy of the Lolli Clock classic, Lolli Clock watch and Lolli Clock rock caught her eye immediately.
“It’s just a really fun product,” she adds. “I think it has a broad appeal for lots of age groups. The colours in the general range are really fabulous and it’s a very well-priced item and while it’s really good quality it hasn’t had a huge price tag at retail level.
“We just felt that because it covers so many different aspects and so many different people in Australia it was a really great product, but it also has a fantastic corporate application. We can do custom logos for businesses depending on quantities so that appealed to us as well.”
The original design was first developed 12 years ago. It looks like a lollipop but is a clock and sits in a pen jar. There are now 13 colours available and the clocks have a Seiko movement and two year warranty on the movement.
Lolli Clock’s Australian debut was well received by retailers who were attracted to the visual merchandising of the colourful products.
“People really loved the product and thought it was really cute. Some of them already stock a watch range that they want to run out of before they go with Lolli Clock, but generally we had a really great reception and people really like the product.”
New designs and colours are expected in Australia early next year with Phillips considering stepping further into the wholesale sector after enjoying her first gift fair experience as a distributor.
“Wholesaling is very, very new to us but it’s very exciting and I actually really enjoyed being at the fair. I loved the camaraderie with the other exhibitors – some of whom I knew before and some I just met – but everybody was really supportive and friendly and there was a great atmosphere, so I liked that side of it [and] I’d like to expand on that.”
