Australian card brand Goodbye Hawaii launches
Ecofriendly and decidedly quirky, the cards and prints from new Australian brand Goodbye Hawaii will add a point of difference to any display.
According to founder Bertie Lukins, the Goodbye Hawaii range is based on tiny, bittersweet, nonsensical moments in life.
“Daydreams about talking carrots, fantasies of driving to the country and never coming back, and that time I saw a dog wearing a visor,” he says. “I like to think that there are people out there who will recognise something of themselves in these designs and smile.”
Lukins started Goodbye Hawaii as a way of making his passion – doodling and drawing – his job. “I’ve been a doodler all my life,” he says. “I’d been drawing cartoons for years when the idea dawned on me that I could somehow make cartoons my work.”
All his designs are hand-drawn and then digitally coloured and printed in his Melbourne studio.
“Working with paper, it’s important to me that the business leaves as small of an environmental footprint as possible,” he says. To achieve this, Lukins uses sustainably managed and recycled resources and vegetable inks.
He hopes to continue creating non-traditional cards. “I want to continue with my vision of quirky designs by keeping the ideas small, personal and special. My list of retailers is growing every month and I can’t wait to keep spreading the fun of Goodbye Hawaii further across Australia and overseas.”
Preferring to keep things personal, Lukins doesn’t have a distributor. Interested retailers can contact him directly.
