Aussie brand launches sustainable food foil wraps
Adelaide-based Foil Me has turned its attention to a new industry and recently introduced reusable food foil wraps.
The brand, which is known globally for its pre-cut foils for hairdressers, ventured into the new realm after its owners were looking for other ways to introduce more sustainable alternatives to single-use plastics.
Drawing inspiration from their love of aluminium foil, Emily and Iliano Ciardiello have designed the foil wraps to keep food fresher for longer.
“As a ‘foil family’, we’ve been using foil at home for years instead of cling wrap,” says Iliano.
“Foil is just so easy to use we thought, ‘why isn’t everyone doing this?’, so we decided to make foil fun and sustainable.”
Emily and Iliano initially came up with the concept of pre-cut foil sheets for the food industry 11 years ago, but instead launched their initial product for hair which uses revolutionary technology to accelerate processing methods.
They’ve now turned their attention to consumers and the kitchen. ‘home. by Foil Me’ is a product that reflects their passion for sustainability and their desire to create practical, fun and eco-friendly products for everyday use.
The foils feature motifs of native Australian wildlife such as the koala and southern nosed wombat, and traditional lunchbox favourites like the sandwich and choc chip muffin.
“Not only are these foil wraps practical and aesthetically pleasing, but they are also environmentally friendly. Being 100 per cent recyclable, they can also be reused by gently hand washing or wiping after use, providing an eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastics that the whole family will love.”
As a company dedicated to conscious, sustainable choices, Foil Me has partnered with Animals Australia to donate $0.20 from every box sold to support the protection and safety of Australian wildlife.
“I’m really proud of this creation because it not only helps make the lives of busy parents and people easier, but it also assists Animals Australia who provide animals with protection and safety to ensure their survival,” Emily adds.
