Brisbane Gift & Lifestyle cancelled
In a move that will come as a surprise to many, Brisbane Gift & Lifestyle has been cancelled for this year.
Originally slated for July and only recently moved to September, the organisers regret to have to make the decision to not go ahead with the event, which was meant to be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
“We understand this will be a frustrating announcement, particularly off the back of the date change from July to September,” says Expertise Events managing director, Gary Fitz-Roy.
“Unfortunately, the date change has not generated the increased sign-up rate we were hoping for and the weekly progress to obtaining bookings to cover the necessary content of the event.
“While we believe that the Queensland market represents a significant opportunity, particularly with the upcoming Olympics and recent tourism, it is apparent this is not yet recognised by many potential exhibitors.”
The fair was moved to September to minimise exhibitor costs as tightening economic conditions are reducing retail spending and placing greater emphasis on key buying events such as Christmas, rather than consistently throughout the year.
“Despite our Brisbane Gift & Lifestyle fair sitting at the lowest possible price-point, companies continue to struggle with on-costs such as freight and travel. We can’t in good faith present an offering to retailers that we believe does not meet their needs.”
The next Gift & Lifestyle fair is scheduled to be held in Melbourne in February 2024.
