Mother’s Day special – part 3: combining business & motherhood
In our special Mother’s Day feature we talk to five women who combine motherhood with running a successful business. This week it’s Helen Armstrong from Apsley & Co.
What does the ideal Mother’s Day look like for you?
Ideal Mother’s Day for me is all about spending the day with family of course. A cup of tea in my favourite bone china cup in bed, followed by breakfast with my partner. Then off to my 92-year-old mum to take her to church. She loves having my brother and I go with her. After church we have lunch together.
When at home I potter in the kitchen with a glass of wine ( I love cooking) to put something together for the kids when they come for dinner with our grandson―just a lovely family day.
Tips for combining motherhood and successful business?
Plan, plan and plan! I have only had step children so I haven’t had some of the challenges others have.
What are your best-sellers for Mother’s Day?
The products that are really popular around this time include Abode Aroma Crystal, Scented Space White Lily diffuser and Vesuvius candles.
What is the one piece of advice mum gave you that you still follow today?
Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
Mother’s Day visual merchandising tips for retailers?
Plan a colour theme and then group items within that colour palette together and always add some flowers!
