Luxe Walls celebrates 4th birthday with new partnership
When the pandemic hit nearly a year ago, and lockdowns and restrictions were introduced, many people were confined to their homes to work, live and learn.
For companies like Luxe Walls it was a blessing in disguise, says co-founder Julia Hill.
“When Covid-19 hit nearly a year ago, we had no idea how we were going to be affected by the lockdown,” she remembers.
“The first couple of weeks were nervous times. A few weeks in, we realised that people in lockdown at home were looking at blank walls and wanting to decorate. Because we print in Sydney, we had no production delays and were able to continue producing people’s wallpapers and enable them to dress their walls.”
Indeed, what 2020 taught us was how important our homes are and made us reassess how we live in them, Hill adds.
“I think homes will be more zoned in the future and wallpaper can visually help separate the zones, especially in open spaces. The colours and patterns on our wallpapers will adapt to reflect the times, but the need for greenery will prevail. I expect the more technological our lives become (and who can predict that), the more tactile comfort we will crave.”
Luxe Walls was launched four years ago when co-founder Andrew Doenicke came up with the idea of custom print wallpaper.
“I heard wallpaper was an up and coming trend five years ago,” he explains.
“I knew we could put a spin on traditional wallpaper and offer customers the ability to custom print their wallpaper and personalise their homes.”
To celebrate its birthday Luxe Walls has joined forces with i=Change, a social enterprise that works with NGOs to facilitate change and empowerment.
For every order the company receives, Luxe Walls will give a dollar to one of three charities―Foodbank, Women Community Shelters, Greening Australia―and its customers choose which cause.
“Joining i=Change was the perfect birthday present for Luxe Walls. As a company we feel it is really important to give back to society. There is so much social injustice in the world and we love the idea that a simple gesture on our part can help so many and create positive change. The fact it is 100 per cent transparent cemented our decision,” says Hill.
There are many more large scale and exciting projects in the pipeline for Luxe Walls including the return of its popular Featured Artist Competition.
“I always wanted to promote young artists and Luxe Walls offers the perfect platform. Last year we ran a competition looking for new featured artists and were swamped with responses from all over the world. Some of these artists that now feature on our site have become bestsellers including Kate Constantine, Stacey Bigg and Kirsten Katz, just to name a few. The pool of artistic talent is deep and we look forward to making the competition an annual event and expanding this popular side of our business,” says Doenicke.
The company is also launching Suzi, a virtual paper stylist, a helpful tool for those who are not that familiar with using wallpaper for their decor.
“Luxe Walls is always looking for new ways to help our customers in making decorating choices they are going to love. We appreciate that many of our customers are decorating for the first time, which can be daunting. Customers are asked questions to determine the styles they like and Suzi will make suggestions of nine wallpapers that suit their brief,” adds Hill.
“New products are on the cards too, so watch this space for new and exciting things to come.”
