Axis Toys appointed exclusive distributor for Kikadu
German brand Kikadu has chosen Axis Toys as its distributor in Australia and New Zealand, adding to the company’s expanding stable of brands.
Known for its colourful and clever, high quality organic toys, accessories and lifestyle products, the brand fits in perfectly with Axis Toys’ portfolio which includes Miniland Dolls, In-Wood, Sassi Book Toys and Byastrup.
The new partnership is another step in Kikadu’s expansion overseas after launching only three years ago.
“The team behind Axis, Paula Opfer and Peter Morris, is very convincing,” says Andrea-Kathrin Christenson, Kikadu managing partner.
“They have a strong reputation and long-standing history in the industry and we are very impressed with their line-up of brands which mirrors ours in terms of quality and values. They, like Kikadu, believe that ecology, economy and social responsibility can work hand in hand. We all bear a responsibility to our planet and can make a contribution to it.”
Indeed, both companies are passionate about sustainability and saving our planet one product at a time. A sustainable world for our children is Kikadu’s mission and the team stay true to this with their motto ‘truly organic’―they work only with organic cotton, natural rubber and recycled PET bottles, processing and recycling them into safe, sustainable and unique baby products.
Christenson hits the nail on the head when she said we share the same values because we absolutely do, says Opfer.
“Kikadu creates beautiful, truly organic toys and products designed for children and their parents that are modern, yet also sustainable and fair,” she enthuses.
“Kikadu’s production acts in harmony with humans, animals and the environment, thereby making a serious contribution to a better world and we are delighted to be part of that. The women behind Kikadu are also inspirational, with an impressive reputation in the industry. Together they are bringing all their knowledge and talent to the table to create a brand that is second to none.”
Its toys and accessories are also processed under fair working conditions and are geared to a long life, designed to become a favourite piece for children as they grow. This is Kikadu’s definition of ‘slow toys’ and it’s a good one.
Babies feel safe with the smell of their new favourite piece and the soft materials, natural cotton fabric and natural rubber all feel good in their hands, says Christenson.
“In addition, every single step in the value chain is checked and is traceable, from the cultivation of organic cotton, to the processing, transport and storage and we meet the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified of which we are proud.”
The Kikadu collection includes wooden grabbing toy, lama mobile, doll carrier and rubber rabbit toy with muslin, and is available now from Axis Toys.
