Cate Gilpin only opened her Brisbane store, Brown’s General Store, a little over a month or so ago, but it’s something she had been dreaming of for a long time. The store offers an eclectic mix of fashion and accessories, homewares and men’s while at the same time supporting local design and selling ethically made products. This issue also features overseas brands Fail Collective and The Good Hippie skincare, who have developed a unique community-focused business model that allows them to partner in business with a shared mission and interests while maintaining and growing their individual brands.
Located under one roof, each business offers select items curated by each owner and provides a showroom and workspace for established Austin area home-based designers and makers who wish to work outside their home, interact with customers in a business setting and build professional relationships.
