Online store pushes boundaries with augmented reality
These days people are time-poor, shopping patterns are changing and now the coronavirus is keeping people at home. This will see online shopping get a major boost and not just for groceries and toilet paper.
Julia Hill and her friend Andrew launched online wallpaper store Luxe Walls after Hill had walls to fill but no budget for art. Andrew mentioned that he could get wallpaper printed and Hill’s creative juices started flowing. Being able to customise wallpaper helped her to personalise her home and allowed her to make features of unusable spaces.
Luxe Walls offers customers the tools to personalise their walls with removable, reusable, self-adhesive wallpaper.
As an online wallpaper store, we are often asked if we have a showroom, says Hill.
“With over 100 million images, plus the ability to customise artwork, a showroom was out of the question,” she explains.
“We thought deeply about our customers’ concerns and how we could create the space they needed to make an informed wallpaper choice. We kept returning to the idea that customers’ own walls were the best place to view their preferred wallpaper artworks, where they could see if the artworks would suit their decor.”
So Luxe Walls integrated 3D augmented reality into their website to showcase over 1,800 wallpaper designs in its customers’ home … and it’s absolutely free.
”We explored new technologies and discovered augmented reality with its ability to offer an interactive visual experience. Our AR app allows people to see our wallpapers on their walls, making it easy to choose the best creative for their walls.”
The technology has been widely embraced, with potential customers downloading the free App. It is also popular with interior designers and decorators as they now have a wallpaper showroom in the palm of their hands.
Simply choose your wall, then explore the extensive wallpaper range. Once the perfect wallpaper is found, take a photo and fill out the order form, all from your iOS device. The order is finalised over the phone with a Luxe Walls representative, allowing the opportunity to discuss customising the artworks’ colour and scale as well as asking any other questions the customer may have.
