Smart mirrors set to revolutionise customer shopping experience
Research shows that our cupboards hide a collective $23 billion worth of unwanted clothing. Yet, how many times do we hear, ‘I’ve got nothing to wear’?
This is all about to change with Shopexp’s new unisex smart mirrors, which allow you to ‘try on’ clothes, makeup, jewellery and eyewear, virtually.
These mirrors―one for the face and another for full body―do not only save money and wardrobe space, but offers the first digital shopping experience of its kind in Australia.
Shopexp founder and director, Chandan Panda, says he actually got the idea when he was at last year’s Online Retailer Conference & Expo.
“Everyone was talking about online and bricks and mortar stores competing with one another, so I decided to come up with something in between,” he explains.
With technology continually evolving, smart mirrors were the logical next step―and if customers like what they see, they can also buy the items through the ‘mirror’.
“This is not only a mirror, but a third dimensional, mobile digital pop-up store. These mirrors can be used as mobile digital stores, where retailers want to set up a pop-up store without much investment.
“For example, Myer might not have a physical presence at a shopping centre, but they could just have a few of these mirrors and a variation of clothes and different sizes, and people can ‘try’ them on and purchase from them directly. The idea is that it caters for both online and offline, and drives online customers instore, and instore customers online.”
Panda is in talks with major shopping, fashion, beauty, jewellery brands and is aiming to get the digital pop-up mirrors in shopping centres across the country.
