Collapsible double walled coffee cup makes its debut
Australia is a nation of coffee lovers, but we are also concerned about how are drinking habits can (negatively) impact the environment.
There are plenty of great reusable cups out in the market, however, they might not always be the most convenient, especially for people that commute. Many work in the city and spend a couple of hours on public transport every day, so you need something that takes up as little space as possible.
That’s exactly what co-founder and creative director, Tracy Murphy, of UK brand w10 had in mind when she created the world’s first stainless steel, double walled, collapsible coffee cup.
“It has taken four years from inception to production, and 18 months of engineering to perfect,” she says.
“We believed that there was a gap in the market place for a more sophisticated collapsible cup, so we enlisted the services of a group of engineers in the UK to develop one for us.
“W10 is a range of stylish, competitively priced and reusable drinkware, but with a twist. It is packed with innovation that you will want to own. It launched last November and this is our first trade fair in Hong Kong and the feedback has been amazing.
“Just like Australia, many people, especially in London, commute to work (on the tube) and they need something for their coffee that keeps it warm, but is also leak proof and easy to store once you drank your coffee.”
The cup, available in rose gold and black, is designed in the UK and manufactured in China. It officially made its debut earlier this year, with major UK retailers such as John Lewis and Harrods already stocking the item, which has really boosted the brand.
Murphy says they are looking to add a chip to the (bottom base) cup so people can grab their coffee and pay with the same cup.
“[Smart} technology is really changing the way we live and it doesn’t get easier than just taking your cup, get your coffee and pay, all with the same item.
“Our ‘On the Go’ collapsible cup is set to revolutionise the commuter travel mug market in 2019/20, further encouraging the drive against the usage of single use plastics and further promoting reusability with initial interest received from major retailers across the globe.”
