NY NOW puts the spotlight on gift trends
With the first month of 2018 already coming to an end, buyers are looking to restock their store shelves for the year ahead.
NY NOW’s gift section consists of more than 400 exhibitors showcasing everything needed to mark special occasions ranging from stationery, paper goods and novelties to ceramic giftware, children’s toys and pet products.
“As we get ready to turn a new leaf with the start of the new year, it’s exciting to look ahead at what 2018 has to offer, such as new experiences and opportunities to celebrate milestones,” says Randi Mohr, vice president and NY NOW director.
“Buyers who want to offer distinctive products in their stores should spend some time in the gift section because we are seeing some really fun and diverse designs that are an excellent addition to any shopping list in 2018.
“When celebrating life’s most special moments, there is a world of gifts and related party accessories that help punctuate the occasion. At the winter market, buyers can expect to see products that are celebratory, inspirational, and representative of one’s personal style and story. The gift section in particular will showcase party goods with a curated and modern style, gift accessories like socks, pins and patches, and even social expression gifts that invoke humour and sentimentality, and more.
“With the turn of the calendar comes a fresh outlook for the year ahead and consumers are often looking for ways to rejuvenate and pamper themselves. From organic products to hand-crafted soaps, aromatherapy and even do-it-yourself body product supplies, buyers will have countless opportunities to fill their store shelves with the products that will capture their customers’ attention and help them start the year off right,” adds Mohr.
Trends to look out for include bath bombs designed for people to relax, indulge and pamper themselves; natural products featuring organic, vegan and plant-derived ingredients, which are still very popular; and handcrafted soaps and scrubs are also a growing category.
NY NOW Winter Market is held from 4 to 7 February at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Centre in New York.
