Vevoke collaborates with Talented UK artist
Stationery and lifestyle wholesaler Vevoke has collaborated with English artist and designer Julia Gash on her first Australian collection.
Gash is known for her Cityscapes products, which feature whimsical, hand-drawn illustrations of places around the globe. She also founded British sustainable souvenir company Talented.
Her debut Australian range, JuliaGash@Vevoke, will feature a large tote bag with a Sydney theme. It will launch at the AGHA Melbourne Gift Fair in August, with new cities and product types to follow.
Vevoke managing partner Chris Dibley says Gash’s work is a natural fit for the company.
“Julia’s work is quirky, original and impactful, which are values that connect strongly with what Vevoke is about,” he says.
“The product range neatly dovetails with the lines we are also introducing through our Hello Sunday, Ohh Deer and other brands… And lastly, we already have strong connections with many of the retailers that this line will appeal to.”
A meeting at a trade fair last year sparked the connection, with the pair meeting again at the NYNOW show in August. They have been collaborating ever since; with Gash taking the time to create an illustration that really reflects Sydney.
“Designing a range that’s right for the Australian and New Zealand market is an important collaboration between Vevoke and me,” she says. “I am learning a lot about Australian culture in the process!”
JuliaGash@Vevoke will be available from August/September this year.
