Keld Industries launches French toy brand in Australia
Toy importer Keld Industries introduced French brand Marbotic to the Australian market at Reed Gift Fairs Melbourne this month.
Keld is the exclusive Australian distributor of the brand and currently offers the Smart Letters and Smart Numbers ranges. Based on Montessori teaching methods, these help children learn through a combination of physical play with wooden toys and interactive apps.
“We share common morals and values, and have always been inspired by the Montessori method of teaching,” says Keld Industries’ Jess Kelly on why they took on the brand.
“We love seeing those light bulb moments when people figure out just what Marbotic can do—it brings out the kid in everyone.”
Kelly says the reaction from retailers at the fair was “brilliant” with lots of continuing orders and new retailers buying for summer.
“Becoming a stockist of our ranges you are ensured that you will be stocking ground-breaking products that are on point and set them apart from the crowd,” she says.
Kelly started Keld in 2010 along with her husband Geoff, who has always had a passion for importing.
“We started Keld because we believe in sustainability in all areas of life,” she explains. “We were sick of seeing plastic products that were thrown away after a few uses. We wanted to source heirloom toys that last the test of time.”
Along with Marbiotic, Keld also distributes Sumblocks, which are wooden building blocks that help children grasp basic mathematics, and modern toy cars with a vintage feel from Candylab.
“Our approach has been to source products that are made sustainably with testing to the highest standards and incorporating the highest standard of ethics and fair trade.
“What you see is what you get with Keld. We are real, genuine, and authentic and treat people how we would like to be treated.”
For 2017, Kelly says she is looking forward to introducing retailers to some new ethically made products from across the globe.
