Make-Kit launches winter toy range
Toy wholesaler Make-Kit has launched a new range of indoor-oriented products for children aged three to 13 years old, in preparation for the cooler months.
Make-Kit takes its name from the kits the company sells, designed to get children making things with their hands, using their imagination and being creative. The business began three years ago after Brad Bryant and his partner developed a desire to make quality, affordable toys.
“My partner and I have both worked for large companies promoting and selling their brands and products, and while our knowledge grew along the way so did our frustration over all sorts of different issues like marketing and customer service,” explains Bryant.
“Having worked at a lot of trade fairs we have met many small business owners and mum and dad retailers and we kept hearing the same message over and over: ‘we can’t compete with the big guys’. So we decided to offer some quality products at great prices just for the smaller guys so they can compete, and we reckon we’ve got the mix of quality and price right.”
The latest products were launched at the Reed Gift Fair and Bryant says retailers were impressed with the range, quality and price points. They were also a hit because they offer something different to Make-Kit’s range of summer toys.
“The current toy range is quite outdoors and summer oriented so we have produced some exclusive products suitable for all year round gifts which will keep the kids entertained in the cooler months too.”
Bryant says that while marketing Make-Kit and becoming a recognised brand has been a challenge, he has enjoyed starting and running his own business. “Producing exclusive products with our own brand rather than just distributing products for others has been a highlight,” he says.
