Norsu Interiors opens first retail store
Australian online homewares wholesaler and retailer Norsu Interiors has opened its first brick and mortar retail store in East Malvern, Victoria.
Norsu Interiors was founded in 2013 by Nat Wheeler and Kristy Sadlier, who met at their local mother’s group and bonded over a mutual love of Scandinavian design.
“After obsessing over too many Scandi blogs and interior mags, one common theme kept emerging—the lack of access we had to purchase these beautiful products in Australia,” explains Sadlier. The pair then decided to launch Norsu—Finnish for elephant—to rectify this gap in the market and bring unique Scandinavian homewares to Australian consumers.
The development of a physical store came after demand from online customers to be able to touch and feel Norsu’s product, which currently includes items from cult Scandinavian designers Fine Little Day, By Nord, Louise Roe, Sne Design, OYOY Living Design and ferm LIVING.
Since opening, the pair have enjoyed being able to interact with their customers. “Beyond loving the opportunity to work in such a beautiful and inspiring space, the best thing by far has been meeting our gorgeous customers,” says Wheeler.
“While running an online business is extremely fulfilling, having a shop takes it to the next level. One of our highlights was a visit from a divine Perth couple who came into the store saying it was one of their ‘must go’ places during their weekend trip to Melbourne. Hearing that just made our day.”
In addition to retailing, Norsu is the Australian distributor for Danish brand Louise Roe and Sne Design from Norway.
